High-level competency in English substantially enhances employment opportunities in a number of professions in Guatemala. The U.S. Embassy in Guatemala has permitted the BFB Foundation to use a proven English language curriculum model as the basis for a new English immersion program we are offering to one of our partner schools.

Through the 3 year Prosperity English Program (PEP) girls have weekly classes of English immersion with a Guatemalan English-speaking instructor who graduated from the program and has been trained to teach others. Upon completion, a student should be able to speak and read English fluently.

PEP is currently provided to high school and middle school girls in the Quetzaltenango Bethlehemite School, with the consent and technical guidance of the Embassy.
