Voices : Voces - Speaker Series

Presented by BFB Foundation and Ruth G. Shaw Women’s Leadership Program of Central Piedmont Community College

Saturday, April 9, 2022 (10:00 am – 12:00 pm)

BFB Foundation invites you to an upcoming speaker event featuring aerospace engineer, Shayla Rivera, to be held in April in Central Piedmont’s Dale F. Halton Theater.  The event promotes the foundation’s latest initiative, a STEM training and learning program in Guatemala for women and girls.

Rivera is a former rocket scientist with NASA turned salesperson, corporate trainer, and now international keynote speaker, TEDx speaker, TV & radio host.  She is also currently the director of the ENGR[x] program and professor of practice with the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University.  She has been a lifelong champion of science and education.

The event is important to BFB’s mission of strengthening communities by supporting education-focused initiatives for girls and women.  It provides a platform for community involvement to positively affect economic mobility in the Charlotte Metro Area, especially concerning the underserved.  Our efforts will also support immediate action to advance and provide funds for the education of girls and women in critical areas of job and livelihood growth, particularly in STEM related areas.
